Last Official Day at Azim Premji University.

Wow! I cannot believe my days at the University are over. Well, I will not be traveling to the University on a regular basis to take classes. I will no longer be taking the bus or walking to campus. The classes have ended and the students will be leaving to start their new jobs in education.

For me, a new chapter has begun and it sounds funny to be writing that when we only have about a month and half left here in Bangalore, India. Today, I did a presentation on the Design Thinking Process to a class called Teachers and Teaching at Azim Premji University. It was great practice for me to “test” my “product”.

My final project for my Fulbright award has evolved into creating a practical guide to incorporating Design Thinking Process (DTP) into curriculum and instruction for all content areas in the 6th standard to the 12th standard. I will be working with several teachers at Indus International as well as my Faculty Advisor at Azim Premji University to write this guide. At the very least, this will be helpful for my own teaching in the US and the middle school teachers at Indus. Through my conversations with students, Professors, and Administrators at Azim Premji University and middle school teachers and the research and training program at Indus International my hope is that this guide will extend further than my reach and students will benefit the most from this work. At the very core of teaching for me are my students and they are who I hope to impact the most!

Speaking of students, my last class of the day was with the 11 students I have become the closest too. I played a very unique role and it became a hybrid of faculty and student with this class. At some points I was teaching and other points I was learning along side them. In the end, it was just a bunch of people learning and growing with each other. Each one of them has a very special place in my heart.

For this last class, I asked for us to take some fun pictures and I was introduced to boomerang. I loved it. It was exactly what I was talking about in terms of fun pictures.

Here are some other fun pictures we took so that when we look at them we can instantly smile or maybe even laugh. It was the perfect send off:-)
