Another Opportunity and one missed opportunity...

I was in the canteen eating my brunch for 50 cents and I see a Professor that I am supposed to talk about my project but I am intimated by her (I have had few encounters that did not feel good) so I put my head down and pretended to eat (even though I was done eating) AND she walks towards me and sits down and eats with me. Long story short, my fear was busted. She is a very nice woman and we had a lovely conversation. She home schooled her children and then created and runs an alternative school and is a Professor at Azim Premji University and teaches a class entitled “Teachers and Teaching”. She invited me to present in her class and is very interested in my guide. I really should not judge a book by its cover.

The opportunity that I missed was that I got to talk to a mom of one of JJ's friends and she works at the Indus Training and Research Institute (ITARI). ITARI is a teacher program for people who already have a master degree but maybe switching careers or wants to deepen their knowledge about teaching. It sounds very similar to Boston Teacher Residency (BTR) that I did. They focus on general pedagogy and what a student centered classroom looks like. Are you catching my drift of how this was a missed opportunity?

Only if I spoke to her sooner, I would have been able to do a workshop with those teachers in that program and she could have helped me set it up. The students in the program are now interning from May to June at their perspective schools. AND Indus is where I learned about the Design Thinking Process and what sparked my inquiry about how to embed it in core content areas. It would have been a perfect match.

Maybe it is not a missed opportunity, maybe it was just not meant to be...
