Art Biennale in Kochi
Everyone told us that if we were going to Kochi we must go to the Art Biennale. And we listened and it was fantastic. First, I learned a new word "Biennale" which is an Italian word that means every other year and is usually used in reference to large art exhibitions.
Second, I was able to derive meaning for myself as to what art means to me and how I enjoy viewing art, museums, listening to music, and all other artistic forms. I have a deep appreciation for art and a bit of "art envy" simply because I have zero talent in this field.
All art forms are like reading a book. In books there are different genres and in art there are different genres and they tell different stories. I like to read the description first and then view how the artists expressed themselves. As I travel through the exhibits, I enter a world of imagination with the stories they are trying to create. I get so excited by what I am learning and I try to take pictures and videos to capture the moment and the truth is that it does not do any justice to the experience. It feels so static and out of place. The environment in of itself adds to the multidimensional moment in time as you are viewing the art.
All in all, I enjoy the exhibits like the video above, where you feel what the artist is trying to convey. And I think the kids enjoy interactive exhibits as well. Below is a picture of them interacting with one exhibit where it is a circle of frosted glass and you could go in and use water and paint brushes to paint on the glass. When it dried, your art would fade away.
Really, when you think about it interactive interaction is all around us, so why is not taught
in schools?
